Shillong, July 18: In a major breach of security, unknown miscreants broke into the office of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council’s (KHADC) Mawkyrwat Branch, South West Khasi Hills District.
As per Shandor Tiewsoh, the Superintendent of Taxes, in-charge KHADC Mawkyrwat Branch, said the day of the incident is yet to be ascertained as miscreants might have broken into the office during the non-working days (Saturday and Sunday) or on Monday, which was a holiday.
According to sources, before entering, the miscreants damaged the lock on the official chamber of the Superintendent of Professional Tax In-charge Mawkyrwat Branch Office and other official chambers. However, the purpose of the miscreants breaking into the office building is unknown but all the important documents were tampered with and thrown on the floor.
The officers have lodged an official complaint and the police are investigating the matter.
