82-Year prison term for Assam man in Kerala for repeated rape and impregnation of minor stepdaughter

Guwahati, Feb 1: A Kerala court issued an 82-year prison sentence on Wednesday to an individual for the repeated rape and impregnation of his 13-year-old stepdaughter two years ago.

The accused, originally from Assam and currently residing in Kerala, faces a maximum term of 20 years for the crimes. Additionally, the court imposed a fine of Rs 1.1 lakh on the convict, stipulating that it be paid as compensation to the victim if recovered from the offender.
The girl, who hails from West Bengal, was raped for five days by her stepfather who threatened her with a knife at their place of residence near Kuruppampady.

Perumbavoor Fast Track Special Court judge Dinesh M Pillai sentenced the man to 20 years each for four different offences under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and two years under the Juvenile Justice Act for a total of 82 years.
