8.62 lakh enumeration forms distributed in Meghalaya under SIR-2026: CEO Report

SHILLONG, JUL 6: Over one-third of Meghalaya’s electorate has received Enumeration Forms in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision-2026, with district-level progress showing wide variation across the state.

According to the latest status report released by the Chief Electoral Officer on Monday, a total of 8,62,594 EFs have been distributed out of 23,49,645 electors, translating to 36.71% coverage.

The revision exercise is being conducted by 3,551 BLOs deployed statewide, with each BLO distributing an average of 243 forms till date.

The report shows South West Garo Hills is ahead of all districts, with 79.55% of its 1,08,883 electors covered after distributing 86,615 forms.

North Garo Hills ranks second at 55.98% with 80,468 forms, followed by East Garo Hills at 42.34% with 48,593 forms.

In absolute numbers, West Garo Hills tops the list with 1,51,117 forms distributed, covering 38.07% of its electorate.

East Khasi Hills, which has the largest voter base of 6,32,146, has completed distribution to 2,07,420 voters, or 32.81%.

On the other hand, East Jaintia Hills reported the lowest coverage at 18.69% with 19,517 forms. South West Khasi Hills stands at 20.75% with 16,722 forms, while West Jaintia Hills has reached 23.94% with 52,787 forms.

The average elector-to-BLO ratio is 662, but it varies sharply. North Garo Hills BLOs handle 817 electors each on average, while South West Khasi Hills BLOs handle 564.

The highest average forms distributed per BLO was recorded in South West Garo Hills at 516, and the lowest in South West Khasi Hills at 117.

With 63.29% of voters yet to receive forms, the CEO’s office said the door-to-door verification will continue in the coming weeks.

Voters can seek assistance through the 1950 toll-free helpline or by downloading the ECINET and Voter Helpline apps.

The SIR-2026 is being carried out under the Election Commission’s push for an “Accurate Roll, Strong Democracy.”
