Dibrugarh, Mar 17: A 25-member team of Punjab Police has been stationed in Dibrugarh for the past two days to oversee the transfer of seven aides of Amritpal Singh from Dibrugarh Central Jail to Punjab.
The team includes senior officials such as the Additional Superintendent of Punjab Police and the Deputy Superintendent of Punjab Police, with the operation being led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Harinder Singh Gill.
While the exact date of the transfer has not been officially disclosed, the Punjab Police team has been actively engaged in completing the necessary legal formalities in Dibrugarh before proceeding with the transfer.
The detainees set for transfer include Daljit Singh Kalsi, Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala, Harjit Singh, Bhagwant Singh (alias Pradhan Mantri Bajeke), Basant Singh, and Gurinderpal Singh. Their relocation to Punjab prisons is expected within the next two to three days.
Meanwhile, Amritpal Singh, Papalpreet Singh, and Varinder Singh Johal will continue to be held under the National Security Act (NSA), with their detention scheduled to expire in June 2025.
