Shillong, Nov 13: The residents from 21 villages in West Khasi Hills gathered on Wednesday at the office of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) in Shillong to protest the recent delimitation process.

The delimitation has transferred these villages from the Mawshynrut constituency to the Rambrai-Jyrngam constituency, sparking strong opposition among the affected communities.

The rally was organized by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of these 21 villages, representing three polling stations in Mawshynrut—Misei, Mawsmai, and Langdongdai. In a recent meeting held at Langdongdai, the JAC and village representatives decided to boycott the upcoming MDC elections next year.

The protesters were not allowed to enter the KHADC premises, which led to anger. As a result, the protesters blocked access to the Council office and sat down on the middle of the Garikhana road bringing traffic to a standstill for hours.
